What If Campaign $150.00

We’re 2/3 of the way there

July, 2017

Dear WSS Community:

September is approaching and with it, not only a respite from heat, hopefully, but the end of the What If Campaign!
For those of you who haven’t contributed yet — it’s time!  Click on the “Donate” button and make a gift to this extraordinary school. Thanks to about 50 friends of WSS, we’ve raised about $120,000 of the $150,000 we set out to raise. Now we need YOU!  Help us show our city, the Commission on Arts & Humanities, potential community funders, other institutions in DC and across the country, and prospective students and supporters that WSS has a strong, vibrant and healthy culture of giving. Ongoing support from you, our students and friends, is essential to WSS’ ability to fulfill its mission —  to teach the  visual language and skills of observation, critical analysis, and material techniques that are essential to developing and expressing a personal vision in drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media.  Our faculty and staff work intensely every day to accomplish this mission. Stand with them — pull out your checkbookand wind up your summer with a gift to WSS.
May you enjoy the rest of summer, and thank you in advance for your generosity and for supporting WSS!

October 2016

Dear Washington Studio School Community –
wss-annual-report_final_page_1This past year, the WSS celebrated our 30th year!  We reflected on past challenges and reveled in our successes. Over the past few years, the School has achieved tremendous growth while still maintaining our founding principles and nurturing and growing our close-knit community. As you read through the attached wss-annual-report, I hope that you are as proud as we are. Please know we are thankful for your support in these accomplishments.

As we move into our fourth decade, the WSS Board of Directors have found ourselves asking a lot of “What If” questions and are excited about the possibilities that lie ahead. We want you to ask yourself “What If” too!  And we’ve created a fun opportunity for you and our entire community to do that.  I would like to personally invite you to participate in our 30 Day “What If” challenge. What If you challenged yourself creatively for the next 30 days? What If you worked in a different color palette? Worked in a different scale? Worked in a different medium? Drew every day?  Pick a possibility, challenge yourself, and share the results with the rest of us!

Starting Saturday, February 1, share your daily results with us on social media using the hashtags: #washingtonstudioschool, #acreativedc, #madeindc, #WSS, #WhatIf, #Create30, #dcarts, #artdc,#bestofdc.

Then join us on October 30th to share and celebrate our results! Watch for details about this event.

Stay tuned, connect and create … great things are happening!
