Breaking Down the Bones: The Essence of Figurative Anatomy
Instructor: Martin Campos
Friday, Saturday, Sunday – October 11, 12, 13th
In this unique three-day intensive class, students will be introduced to the primary anatomical factors one should observe when building form. This is a workshop based not on exhaustive charts and memorization of anatomical nomenclature, but a class focusing on the special artistic characteristics of bone structure and how it influences strong figurative drawing. We will be working with the model in a fluid environment with plenty of gestures along with long poses. The student will leave the workshop with a clearer focus when approaching form building, as well as the necessary tools for creating convincing and expressive figures. Learning basic anatomy and it’s skeletal landmarks is the single best thing you can do to improve your figure work.
Who is this workshop for: This workshop may fulfill the anatomy requirement for certificate students. However, it is open to all who wish to improve their figure drawing skills in a dynamic and generous environment. It is recommended that participants have some experience working with the figure, but each student will be encouraged at their own level.
