Image Politics dissects current events in the United States and elsewhere and looks at pivotal historical events that shaped contemporary society through the lens of art. Image Politics V will look at works by international artists that reflect injustice, protest, and politics. In light of turbulent world politics, this year’s Image Politics will look closely at how contemporary artists are responding to unrest, and how art and artists remain the moral pulse of society. This is strictly a lecture course. Note-taking, reading and engagement are important components of this class.
Image Politics V is the fifth iteration of this class taught at WSS. Prior enrolment in past courses is not a prerequisite, and returning students will find fresh topics.
This class will fulfill the Theory requirement for Certificate Students.
