Intro to the Figure (10weeks/Online)
Instructor: Lee Newman
January 26 - March 30 (ten weeks)
Tuesdays, 10 am -1 pm EST
This online class will use live models via Zoom, and will introduce students who are new to the figure to the basic principals and techniques for successfully drawing from life. Students will develop an understanding of the skeletal structure, allowing them to locate visible landmarks on the figure. Additionally they will learn basic skills related to:
angles and finding the outer ‘envelope’,
planes as a means for finding form,
and placement on the page.
Instructor demonstrations and lots of in-class drawing will help participants to refine their perceptual skills and gain confidence needed to move to the next level. Students will work with a variety of drawing materials, which might include pencil, charcoal and conte crayon.
Who is this class for: This class is for students with some basic prior drawing experience but may be new to the figure and are interested in the endless rewards from studying it.
Once registered, you will receive an email containing information on how to join Zoom 24 hours before or the morning of the start of the class or workshop.
