Landscape Painting: Inspired by Tanguy (4weeks/Outdoor)
Instructor: Trevor Young
Sundays, 2-5 pm EST
October 11 - November 1 (four weeks)
This outdoor class will meet weekly at Fort Reno Park near Tenleytown metro and use the big fields as a starting point to then channel the inventive, surrealistic qualities of painter Yves Tanguy. This is your chance to be playful, abstract, moody or cerebral while still paying attention to the landscape you are in. This will be a fun and inspiring class, leading to a variety of unique paintings and a better understanding of surrealism. Acrylic paint is the preferred medium, but oil paint or watercolor are welcome as well. A portable easel is needed, and masks are required.
Who is this class for: It is recommended that students have some basic drawing experience, understanding of spatial concepts, and knowledge of paint handling before venturing into the landscape, although students of all levels are welcome and will be worked with at their level.
