Mastering the Clothed Figure in Paint (10weeks/Online)
Instructor: Milena Spasic
September 24 - December 3 (ten weeks)
Thursdays, 2 - 5 pm EST
While strengthening perceptual and technical skills, this course will investigate the materials, expressive content and visual concepts of painting as they relate primarily to the clothed human form. Students work towards a personal sensibility while learning to express the complexities of the human form in its spatial environment. Work will be from a combination of photo references, live models, and self-portrait. Concepts to be addressed include:
• Gesture of the pose,
• skeletal structure,
• planar structure, in the figure and the clothing
• limited palette color,
• and placement within the rectangle.
While the emphasis is on oil painting with a limited palette, those who wish to draw from an extended pose may do so in this class.
Who is this class for: This class is for those who have some previous life drawing experience, some basic painting skills, and who have a particular interest in painting the clothed figure. The class will be taught live through Zoom.
Once registered, you will receive an email containing information on how to join Zoom 24 hours before or the morning of the start of the class or workshop.
