Mastering the Figure in Paint
Instructor: Diane Wilson
While strengthening perceptual and technical skills, this course will investigate the materials, expressive content and visual concepts of painting as they relate to the human form. Students work towards a personal sensibility, while learning to express the complexities of the human form in its spatial environment. Concepts to be addressed include:
- Gesture of the pose,
- skeletal structure,
- planar structure,
- limited palette color,
- and placement within the rectangle.
While the emphasis is on oil painting with a limited palette, those who wish to draw from an extended pose may do so in this class.
Who is this class for: This class is for those who have some previous life drawing experience, some basic painting skills, who enjoy a less structured classroom environment and who have a particular interest in painting the unclothed figure.
