° tools (brushes, knives, palettes, etc),
° preparation processes for both canvas and wood panels,
° sizes and grounds,

° painting procedures and the care of finished paintings.
Underpainting, glazing, using opaque and transparent pigments, are among the many hands-on procedures that may be covered or discussed, in addition to an overview of modern alkyd resins and acrylic paints.
Maintaining a safe and healthy studio practice will also be discussed.
Required of all certificate students and recommended for others.
