More Than the Head: Portrait in Color and Space
Instructor: Brian Kelley
July 10 - August 14 (six weeks)
Fridays, 2 - 5 pm EST
A portrait can be more than just the head. The portrait can include the torso or the full-body, greatly expanding the gestural and postural possibilities. Additionally, the inclusion of objects and the spaces surrounding the figure can contribute to the personality and stories being projected about the person depicted. Using materials of the student’s choice, including paint or colored drawing materials, the class will explore color and composition issues related to the clothed figure in an environment. Self-portraiture and other sources will be employed. The class will be taught live via Zoom, with demos, image sharing, and lots of individual feedback. Instructions for using Zoom will be sent prior to the class.
