In this class, students will explore non-toxic printmaking techniques. Each week we will study the history of a different printmaking medium, followed by a demonstration and time to work on that technique yourself. This class will cover: Woodblock, Intaglio, Collagraph, and Monotype.
This introductory course is perfect for anyone seeking to create a basic printmaking portfolio and for anyone interested in the history of printmaking.

Tarlatan Wiping Fabric
Cranfield Caligo Safe Wash Relief Inks (6 colors & ink modifier)
8”x12” birch Wood Printing Blocks
Students are responsible for acquiring these supplies for personal use. Your instructor will provide further guidance as needed:

Linoleum sheets - students are to work in 4x6” or 5x7”, no backing needed, roll ok/ enough to make 2 blocks (lots of options on Blick)

Students will need 10 sheets of white printmaking paper, 22” by 30” rag paper for intaglio is preferred. WSS has paper available for students to purchase at cost - $8 a sheet
- Scrap Materials such as old lace, string, aluminum foil, and plastic bags - your instructor will elaborate on these items and their purpose when it is needed.

If you are unsure if a class is right for you, please read our Pathway To Sucess: A Guide or have a conversation with a Faculty member or our Head of Faculty before the first week of the 10-week term ends. Once the second week of classes starts, no refunds will be offered.
For Workshops, Artist Demos, and Short Classes (classes less than 10 weeks in duration) - only withdrawals more than 14 days before the first day of class – 100% tuition refund*
A $25 administrative fee is applied to all refunds.
