This course delves into sculpture as a medium to explore and challenge concepts of space, boundaries, and social constructs. Through hands-on projects, students will engage with notions of public vs private, psychological to physical boundaries, and how domesticity intersects with societal norms. Students will develop technical skills to create thought-provoking installations or sculptural works by employing mold-making, soft sculpture, and unconventional materials to build their artistic repertoire. Visits to salvage shops and studio demonstrations are designed to enhance students' ability to create impactful, spatially aware works installed on campus.
Who this class is for: Recommended for artists who wish to expand their technical skill-set in three-dimensional object or place-making.
