The Found Still Life
Instructor: Erin Raedeke
May 26 - June 23
Tuesdays, 7-10 pm EST
The best still lifes are often not composed but discovered just by looking around at our everyday surroundings. What is on our counters, tables, shelves, floors, in our drawers, cabinets, or kitchen sinks has served as source for artists such as Diebenkorn with spectacular results. Using the objects that are near and dear to us in relationships that happen naturally (and may even be a bit messy), students will be guided in making choices about what to include, and how to edit, emphasize and even alter. Visual events that are discovered through the observation of value, color, and shape relationships will be examined. Participants may use any materials (drawing, painting, pastel, etc) that are available to them and are easy to use in their home spaces. Instruction will be live through Zoom, with additional materials provided through either email or Google Classroom. Instructions for using Zoom will be sent prior to the class.
