The Movement in Plants
Instructor: Mary Freedman
Saturday, January 25
Using the simple materials of charcoal, graphite, erasers and paper, students will explore the movement, rhythms, gesture and inherent abstractions in a variety of plants as source. Noticing the specificity of shapes in relation to each other and the types of marks possible to represent the feeling of the various plants will be goals for the workshop. Negative and positive shapes, contour, line quality, and overlap will all contribute to the visual movement through the drawings.
Who is this workshop for: Students with some basic drawing skills and vocabulary will benefit most, but the workshop is open to beginners as well.
