The Viscerality of Flesh: An Oil Painting Workshop

Working with one model in the morning and another in the afternoon, participants will explore the transcendent nature of oil paint and the transfigurative qualities of the medium in regard to the figure. The class will examine how the use of the paint helps lock into the feeling and response to the body in ways that push beyond observation into something even greater.  The works of painters like Chaim Soutine, Jenny Saville, Francis Bacon, Jean-Francois Millet and more will be looked at, as well as lots of demo from Campos.  Students will work from a limited palette of oil paints to fearlessly expand their use of the medium. Recommended for those with strong figure drawing skills.
