Twilight Colors (2-weeks/Online)
Instructor: Brian Kelley
April 22 and 29
Thursdays, 7-10 pm EST
Twilight is a beautiful time of day where the light shifts rapidly from a kind of glow to a more monochromatic softness just before darkness sets in. Twilight was celebrated in many of the beautiful nocturnes by Whistler, in paintings of Venice by Monet, and by so many more artists. These two evenings are timed to take advantage of twilight colors, both outside (Plein air or view) and inside with a near the window still life. You will learn about Golden Twilight and Blue Twilight and will become more attuned to that magical time of day and how it alters what we see. Close observation of color and light as it shifts will be the goal, both in the sky and on the buildings, trees and objects that are affected. Work my stay close to reality or lean into abstraction as long as the colors and light stay true. Materials are open and up to the student.
Once registered, you will receive an email containing information on how to join Zoom the day before or morning of the start of the class or workshop.
