This call is for current Washington Studio School students who have taken classes within the past academic year. The exhibition will also be featured as part of WSS’ Bauhaus-themed Art All Night & Gala. We invite students working in 2-D to submit strong finished works made in and out of class. Students may also opt to submit work that responds to a contemporary view of the Bauhaus movement. Any work done within the past year can be considered for inclusion.

2026 WSS Student Show Submission Form

Art is Not Decoration - 2026 Juried Student Exhibition

⁣This call is for current Washington Studio School students who have taken classes within the past academic year (Fall 2025 - Present). The exhibition will also be featured as part of WSS’ Bauhaus-themed Art All Night & Gala. We invite students working in 2-D to submit strong finished works made in and out of class. Students may also opt to submit work that responds to a contemporary view of the Bauhaus movement. Any work done within the past year can be considered for inclusion. 


Call Type: Juried Exhibition


Guest Jurors: WSS Faculty Paul Pietsch & Marie B. Gauthiez


Eligibility:

  • Artists must be Washington Studio School students who have taken classes within the past academic year.

  • Artists MUST reside in the Washington, DC area (DMV). 

  • Artists must be 16 years of age or older.

  • Artists must adhere to submission deadlines. Any artwork submitted after the deadline will not be accepted. 


Entry Deadline: Thursday, August 20 at 12:00 pm (Noon) EST


Notification of Acceptance: Thursday, August 27 (via email)


Exhibition Timeline for Art is Not Decoration:

  • Thursday, August 20 at 12:00 PM (noon) EST - Deadline for submissions

  • Thursday, August 27 - Notifications of acceptance (sent via email)

  • Monday, August 31- Selected Artwork Drop-Off 

  • Friday, September 4 - Friday, September 25 - Run of Exhibition

  • Friday, September 4 - First Friday ArtWalk Opening Reception

  • Monday & Tuesday, September 28 & 29 - De-installation + Artwork Pick-Up



First Friday ArtWalk Public Opening: Friday, September 4 from 6 to 8 PM
