Using bold colors and brushstrokes, the Fauvists prioritized capturing emotion in their subjects rather than a naturalistic depiction. This class responds to the sensation-based painting inspired by Matisse and other Fauvists. Focusing on the excitement of the sun and the drama of shadows, this class will emphasize how to mix a palette to create the excitement of the sun and saturated colors. Using bold mark-marking, this class emphasizes that saturation, intensity, and emotion in the palette are more important than color accuracy.
