2nd Saturday Model Extravaganza with DC Art Model Collective

WSS is pleased to collaboratively host the DC Art Model Collective's (DCAMC) monthly Model Extravaganza.

Saturday, December 11, from 3 to 6 pm EST

This event has been postponed.

From the time of the cave to the time of the ‘cloud’ humans have recorded their visions of others through their art. Spanning history, geography, and personal sensibility the human figure has been idealized, abstracted, sensualized, distorted, deified, emotionalized, drawn, painted, sculpted, photographed, and filmed.

The figure is central to what we teach and practice at WSS in our classes, workshops, Monday night virtual drop-in sessions, and in our on-going collaboration with the DC Art Model Collective and their monthly 2nd Saturday Model Extravaganza.

Each month the models of DCAMC select a unique theme to draw inspiration from. The theme for this month will be announced soon. This is a perfect event for anyone new to online drawing as well as those looking for a challenging creative session!

With each model taking a 20-minute turn to pose, we may start with a few quick gestures and settle into 20 minute poses for the rest of the 3 hours. There will be a few short breaks spaced throughout to allow attending artists time to step away from the screen without missing out on posing time. When a model is posing, they will be spotlighted in the Zoom session. Each model will take a turn so you have time to draw with all of us!

There is nothing in the world quite like the Extravaganza!! With a new theme each month, unbelievable set-ups and costumes, and a rotation of models throughout the afternoon, this event is always a blast!! It is a great complement to the figure and portrait sessions that the models provide individually and to the weekly Monday night drop-in sessions that feature a different model each week. Help us support our wonderful DC art models by joining us this April and every 2nd Saturday of the month. You’ll have as much fun drawing them as the models have to prepare their amazing set-ups for you!

There are two ticket options:

- $20 per attendee- A donation / pay-what-you-can option

We understand that funds and opportunities are tight at this time, so we welcome any amount if $20 is beyond what you can comfortably offer.
