Fundamentally, Speed Stars mimics the action of a sprint race. Using a side-scrolling viewpoint, the user manipulates a runner by moving its legs with two alternating buttons or touchscreen controls. By rhythmically switching between the left and right keys or taps, the objective is to create and sustain momentum. The runner speed stars unblocked falls or loses speed if they go too fast or too slow. The physics-based gameplay of the game simulates the difficulty of real sprinting by skillfully fusing timing, coordination, and strategy in a realistic and satisfying way.
