FREE PUBLIC LECTURE

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 7PM

Washington Studio School is delighted to welcome, for the first time, extraordinary California Bay-area painter, Gage Opdenbrouw.

Opdenbrouw is a painter whose work bridges representation and abstraction. He aims to distill his imagery to a point of powerful emotional resonance while maintaining a sense of mystery, allowing the viewer's experience to be an important part of completing the picture. While his works span many outward subjects, the recurrent subject is the richness and radiant beauty hidden beneath the surface of the observed world, the vastness of the interior worlds, and the resonance between the two. Opdenbrouw was born and raised in San Jose, CA, earned an arts degree from the Academy of Art in San Francisco and is currently based in Oakland.

Help us welcome him to WSS and join us as he lets us in on his process during his talk, Painting the Ephemeral / Finding Presence on Friday, November 8 at 7pm. To learn more about Opdenbrouw visit, gageopdenbrouw.com.

This program is free and open for all.

Gage Opdenbrouw’s lecture on Painting the Ephemeral / Finding Presence explores how fleeting moments, emotion, and inner rhythm shape visual experience, much like the FNF Game , a rhythm-based indie game where players stay present by matching beats, reacting instinctively, and letting music guide expression in the moment.
