The Power of Art

Access Your Creative Energy and Add Your Voice to the Conversation

WSS is pleased to welcome D.C. artist Rose Jaffe for an artist talk and community workshop on Friday, February, 28 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. In her talk, Rose will shed light on the work she makes throughout the city, elaborate on her journey so far as a working artist and examine art as a tool that can be used to speak truth to power and make our voices heard. Guests will be invited to participate in a conversation about art, space, activism and community and the ways in which each person contributes greatly to a larger conversation. Through conversation, guests will be encouraged to add their voices in effective ways that serve as a creative outlet, send a positive social message and empower others.

Following the lecture and conversation, Rose will guide participants through the process of using images and text to create a simple but powerful poster to convey each unique idea. Light refreshments and all materials will be provided.
