First Friday Gallery ArtWalk Dupont Circle

August 4th, 6pm - 8pm

Join us for August First Friday ArtWalk Dupont for a night of art and art-making. August 4th, 6pm - 8pm at Washington Studio School. Free and open to the public.

Washington Studio School (WSS) is thrilled to present See-and-be-Seen 2023: Face to Face an annual summer interactive and constantly evolving exhibition of self-portraits created through public participation and art-making. All materials are free.

The self-portrait is the original selfie: Long before the invention of the cell phone camera people made self-portraits. A single self-portrait is a powerful statement of identity, gender, representation, history, family, and self-reflection. A room full of self-portraits in dialog with each other is a community.

How do you imagine yourself and present yourself to the world?

WSS and this program are supported in part by the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities.

First Friday ArtWalk Dupont is a wonderful way to explore Dupont Circle's galleries and art organizations though a self-guided and very walkable neighborhood tour. The ArtWalk takes place on the first Friday of each month and features the Dupont Circle arts community, as well as Dupont restaurants and businesses. The monthly event includes a gallery walk, live performances, and public art activations
