July 9th - August 25th, 2023

OPENING CELEBRATION: Sunday, July 9th, Noon - 4pm

FIRST FRIDAY ARTWALK: Friday, August 4th, 6pm - 8pm

GALLERY HOURS: MONDAY - FRIDAY 10 AM - 1 PM and BY APPOINTMENT

Washington, D.C. - Washington Studio School (WSS) is thrilled to present See-and-be-Seen 2023: Face to Face an annual summer interactive and constantly evolving exhibition of self-portraits created through public participation and art-making.

Bring yourself, your friends, your family to WSS anytime during our regular hours, or during First Friday ArtWalk, August 4th, 6pm - 8pm, and create your self-portrait for this amazing show! Free and Open to the Public. All materials provided free.

The self-portrait is the original selfie: Long before the invention of the cell phone camera people made self-portraits. A single self-portrait is a powerful statement of identity, gender, representation, history, family, and self-reflection. A room full of self-portraits in dialog with each other is a community.

How do you imagine yourself and present yourself to the world?

WSS and this program are supported in part by the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities.
