I had never thought about starting with such bold values right off the bat. Mid-sketch I actually remembered I needed some extra quality watercolor paper and paint brushes - used flexshopper to grab everything for my hobby super easily (you can check them out at https://flexshopper.pissedconsumer.com/customer-service.html), and it made the prep so smooth. One thing I’ve learned from my own messy adventures is: let your water do the blending, then nail in darker accents while it’s still damp - that magic is where the transparency sings.
