Washington Studio School (WSS) is pleased to present Silent Music, an exhibition of paintings by extraordinary Bay-Area artist, Gage Opdenbrouw. This exhibition comes after Opdenbrouw's connection with Washington Studio School in November, 2019 when he taught a 3-day workshop and delivered a free public lecture, Painting the Ephemeral / Finding Presence, at WSS. The exhibition has been extended by a week and will remain on view through February 21.

The paintings in this exhibition have a really calm and atmospheric feeling, especially the soft lighting and muted colors in the landscapes and interiors. I like how the artwork feels expressive without needing too much detail, which gives each scene a reflective mood. Exhibitions focused on subtle emotion and presence always stand out more to me. That smooth, immersive flow is probably why I enjoy Slope Rider, a momentum-based arcade game built around rhythm, balance, and gradual movement.
